Guards Ashton Miller and Evan Buckley, who had previously given Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot verbal commitments to join the team, signed their letters of intent, the school announced.

Miller, who scored 991 of his 1,220 career points over his final two seasons at Seton Hall (N.J.) Prep, averaged 20.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.0 steals this season. He was a third-team all-state selection after averaging 25.8 points in five Essex County and North Jersey Non-Public A tournament games.

“Ashton has a tremendous upside,” Dambrot said in a statement. “At 6-5, he has a long wingspan to go along with good ball-handling and shooting skills.

“He has the ability to play and defend multiple positions. Ashton comes from a high-level program at Seton Hall Prep, which should help in his adjustment to the college game.”

Buckley, who was named second-team all-state in the Class 5 Virginia High School League, is the Stone Bridge High School record holder for career points (1,467) and assists (156).

A 6-foot-1 point guard, he averaged 22.5 points and 8.0 assists as a senior. Over his final two seasons, he played a role in 75 percent of his team’s field goals with a basket or assist.

“Evan is an old school, pass-first point guard with good toughness and strength,” Dambrot said. “He is a relentless competitor with a culture-changing type of work ethic. His high school coach, Corey Stitzel, has coached at the Division I level, and I really think that has helped Evan develop as a player.”
