Former Steelers WR Antonio Brown known as much for off-field antics as game play
Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is facing criminal charges.
Again.
He is as known for his antics off the gridiron as for his prowess between the hashmarks.
A 36-year-old Florida man, Brown is wanted on a charge of attempted murder stemming from a shooting at a May celebrity boxing bout in Miami. As of Friday morning, he remained on the lam.
Brown was briefly detained immediately after the May 17 shooting. The charges were first reported Thursday night by the Washington Post.
The charges were filed after videos of the mayhem appear to show Brown was involved, the New York Post reported.
While he was in Pittsburgh, Brown may perhaps best be known for proving that one can go 100 mph on McKnight Road in Ross, something he was cited for in 2018.

Prior to that, Brown, who lived in Pine during his tenure with the Steelers, reported a safe was stolen from his home. That case was unresolved.
Brown was also accused of riding an ATV in Richland and posting about it on Snapchat.
After he was traded to the Raiders in 2019, the lawn on the 5-bedroom, 7-bathroom home at 103 Silver Pines Drive became overgrown and inspired a neighbor to call him out on social media.
The house later sold for $1.4 million.
Brown was also accused of sexual assault by his former trainer. Criminal charges weren’t pursued and a civil suit was settled in 2021, the NFL reported.
He also settled a lawsuit filed on behalf of a Florida toddler who was nearly hit by furniture Brown was accused of throwing off a balcony.
On the field, Brown made a name for himself at Central Michigan University, where in 2009 he led the team to its best-ever season that included 12 wins and a Mid-American Conference championship.
The Steelers drafted him in the sixth round with the 195th overall pick of the 2010 NFL draft.
In parts of nine seasons with the Steelers, Brown had 11,207 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns.
He was traded to the then-Oakland Raiders for a draft pick and his career sputtered thereafter. His last three seasons were split between New England and Tampa Bay as a receiver for Tom Brady.
The Buccaneers’ 2021 regular-season finale was his final game and Brown stripped off his jersey, pads and gloves as he ran off the field.
