The Pittsburgh Steelers announced the signing of a fourth draft pick in a 19-hour span with word Wednesday that fourth-round running back Benny Snell agreed to terms.

Snell was one of college football’s best running backs over the past three years, last season earning second-team All-American and first-team All-SEC honors when he had 1,449 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns for Kentucky.

Snell, the No. 122 overall pick, left the Wildcats as the school’s career rushing leader after just three seasons on the field. He will compete with last year’s fifth-round pick, Jaylen Samuels, for snaps and carries this season as part of the backfield with returning Pro Bowler James Conner.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but under the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement all rookie contracts are for four years and the compensation is virtually predetermined via a slotting system.

Earlier Wednesday, the Steelers announced the signing of third-round receiver Diontae Johnson; on Tuesday, it was sixth-round picks Sutton Smith and Isaiah Buggs.

Five other picks have yet to sign.
