At 6-foot-6, 305 pounds and with youth on his side, chances are good that Adam Bisnowaty will find himself in some NFL training camp this summer.

But the former Pitt offensive tackle was released Wednesday by the Minnesota Vikings, his fourth NFL team. The Vikings were overstocked on the line with 15 players, including his Pitt teammate Brian O’Neill, a 2018 second-round draft choice. O’Neill made 11 starts last season.

Bisnowaty, a Fox Chapel graduate, was a sixth-round draft choice of the New York Giants in 2017 and started the final game of his rookie season. He was released by the Giants in May, 2018, and spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Detroit Lions before joining the Vikings’ practice squad in October. He signed a futures contract after the season, but found himself a victim of the numbers game.

Bisnowaty, 25, was highly decorated at Pitt, earning a spot on the All-ACC Academic team four times and the All-ACC first team twice (coaches vote) and the second team twice (media vote) in 2015 and 2016. Plus, he was in Death Valley the day the Panthers upset eventual national champion Clemson.
