Two boroughs — Irwin and North Irwin — should put out a “help wanted” sign to attract anyone willing to serve on council.
Only one person — an incumbent in Irwin — is seeking his party’s nomination in the May 21 primary.
There are three seats up for grabs in Irwin.
Irwin Councilman Michael Yunn, a Republican, is the only candidate listed on the ballot for a four-year council term, according to the Westmoreland County Bureau of Elections.
Incumbents Rick Burdelski, who is council president, and Deborah Kelly, are not seeking re-election.
It’s even worse in tiny North Irwin. North Irwin voters have a blank slate for the three council seats and the post of auditor.
In Manor Borough, no one is seeking the Democratic nomination for three open council seats. There are four Republicans seeking the party nominations for the three seats.
Anyone wanting to run a write-in campaign in the primary will need at least 10 votes, according to Beth Lechman, director of the county’s Bureau of Elections.
