Letter to the editor: Not impressed with new airport terminal

Tribune-Review

My first visit to the new Pittsburgh Airport terminal was to pick up my daughter. Her plane landed shortly before midnight on Nov. 25. I was in the wait lot until she texted that she was in the departure area. Signage to get from the wait lot to the terminal was sorely lacking. I wasn’t sure how much would be the same as before or how much would be different. I almost ended up back in a parking lot. It was more stressful than it should have been.

Then, I was shocked at how crowded it was at the arrival terminal. It was a mess: three full lanes of cars (and a large bus!) jockeying in and out to pick up travelers, and an outer lane that wasn’t much better. I don’t know if the problem was a glitch in the traffic pattern or if there was not enough guidance/supervision from those directing traffic. Certainly, the bus shouldn’t have been allowed there. I’ve never before experienced such mass confusion at the Pittsburgh arrival area. Again, there could have been more signage in regard to departing the airport.

IMHO, there can never be too much signage. Sadly, my first visit to the new terminal was not a pleasant one.
