Letter to the editor: Opposing news, opposing views
It’s puzzling how some letter-writers call Republican President Donald Trump a fascist, Hitler, a Nazi, a rapist and garbage, while an equal number believe his reelection will save our country, drain the Washington swamp and reverse the economic, moral, educational, border, fiscal and cultural deterioration that occurred under the four years of Biden-Harris.
Could these startling differences be related to the recent significant changes in the two parties? Much of the Democratic Party radicalizes its ongoing socialist agenda with out-of-control, big-government, progressive policies, ballooning federal debt, institutionalized woke culture, an unsecure border and student loan payoffs while the Republican Party makes its case for cutting taxes, reducing the size and costs of government and the federal debt, draining the Washington swamp, keeping us out of wars and adopting a sound money policy.
Meanwhile, the mainstream press very clearly became an arm of the Democratic Party and the tenured D.C. bureaucrats, and have for the past eight years provided constant attacks to take Trump out of office. The only counterbalance to these aggressive, and questionable attacks were Fox News, Newsmax and some radio talk show hosts.
Could it be that the contrasting letter-writers’ opinions are a result of which political press or cable news they regularly watched, and still do? Seems like the majority of middle-class voters weighed the pros and cons and decided for themselves.
