Once again, politically motivated terrorism has been waged against peacefully assembled politicians in Washington, D.C. (“DC gala shooting suspect aired grievances against Trump in writings to family,” April 25, TribLive).

Law enforcement officers were attacked with deadly force and injured as they fought to protect potential victims who dropped to the floor and cowered in fear. Cameras caught the attacker as he began his assault, and the plight of the targets was witnessed on live television. Sound familiar?

This time, let’s hope President Trump doesn’t describe the terrorist as a “great patriot” and insult the brave law enforcement officers by pardoning him for his criminal attack.
