Letter to the editor: Support the Westmoreland County Fair
Some of my best memories as a kid came from the Westmoreland Fair. I loved walking through the barns and seeing the chickens, cows, sheep and rabbits. These were animals I didn’t get to see up close anywhere else, and it was something I looked forward to every summer.
The fair has always been a great place for families and kids of all ages. It gives people a chance to slow down, connect with their community and see the hard work that goes into raising animals and completing 4-H projects. It’s a reminder of the values that matter in rural life.
Some of the events I remember from when I was younger are no longer there. That’s been the case at a lot of local fairs, but the Westmoreland Fair is still going strong. That’s something worth supporting.
In a time when more and more of life happens on screens, the fair offers something real. It’s a place to walk around, talk to neighbors and see what makes this county special. I hope more people take time to attend this year and help keep the tradition alive.
