The Central Westmoreland Career & Technology Center held its senior recognition ceremony May 11. Parents, grandparents, friends and business owners gathered with pride as these skilled students crossed the stage.

Unlike traditional high school students focused on GPAs, these technical education students work toward competency and professional certifications within their respective programs. These graduates are the individuals who will be maintaining our vehicles, building our homes, providing power, caring for our health and performing numerous other essential technical services.

The ceremony itself was concise and student-focused, reflecting the practical nature of their education. The outdoor stage was even built and decorated by the students. Once they finished walking across the stage, it was simply time to get “back to work.”
