Two men were arrested by Harrison police on drug and gun charges while officers were searching for another man who was wanted on an arrest warrant by Allegheny County Police detectives.

Deangelo King, 26, of Golden Gate Drive in Penn Hills and Antonio Cook, 42, of Broad Street in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood were charged with felony counts of drug possession and carrying a firearm without a license, according to court records.

King also was charged with making false statements to police, evading arrest and carrying a loaded weapon. Cook faces an additional misdemeanor charge of drug possession.

Police wrote in a criminal complaint that they were looking for a warrant suspect who was believed to be driving a black Chevrolet Cruze with body damage when King and Cook were arrested.

Harrison police wrote in the complaint that on Nov. 20 a sergeant spotted the Chevy Cruze parked along Chestnut Street in Natrona. While officers were waiting for a 911 dispatcher to determine whether the car’s license plate was stolen, they saw two men get out of a nearby black 2007 Jeep Compass and go to the home where the Chevy was parked.

A short time later, a 911 call was received about an altercation involving guns at the same house, the complaint said.

An officer saw the two men get back into the Jeep and drive away. Another officer, responding to the 911 call, pulled it over at the intersection of Pond and Penn streets, the complaint said.

Police said the two men in the Jeep were crouching down and for a brief time were out of the officer’s sight, the complaint said.

They refused multiple commands by the officer to show their hands before they both “popped up” from their crouched positions, the complaint said. The driver then opened the door and fled on foot.

Police took Cook into custody and were securing the vehicle when an officer said he saw a handgun under the driver’s seat, the complaint said.

The Jeep was impounded and searched after police got a warrant.

A 9mm Ruger pistol — loaded with 11 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber — was found under the driver’s seat, the complaint said.

Police said they also found two bundles of stamp bags filled with suspected heroin in the center console, police said.

Officers who were monitoring the area where King fled following the traffic stop became suspicious after they saw a vehicle circling nearby, the complaint.

Police said the vehicle was pulled over, but the driver gave the officer a false name when he was asked to identify himself, the complaint said.

Officers tried to verify the name he gave by getting a photo of that person, but it did not match, police said.

King revealed his identity after he was taken into custody and agreed to talk to officers, the complaint said.

Investigators said King is not permitted to possess a firearm because he previously was convicted of drug and gun charges in federal court. Cook can’t have a gun because of several previous drug convictions.

King was released from custody after posting a $10,000 unsecured bond. Cook was released after a Pittsburgh bail agency posted a $25,000 bond on his behalf.

They face separate preliminary hearings on the charges before District Judge Carolyn Bengel on Dec. 7, court records show.

The man police were looking for

The warrant suspect that Harrison police were looking for was Peter Paul Dott IV, 30, of Pittsburgh’s North Side. Allegheny County Police want him on felony counts of escape, flight to avoid apprehension, fleeing from police and multiple traffic violations, court records show.

On Oct. 8, Washington, Pa., police charged Dott with multiple felony theft and escape charges. On Oct. 31, police in the borough of East Washington in Washington County charged Dott with felony counts of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Dott has since been arrested and is being detained in the Washington County jail to await court proceedings.
