A SWAT standoff in Pittsburgh’s Elliott neighborhood ended with a man taken into custody Thursday night and his adult son refusing treatment in a reported knife assault.

City police responded at about 9:10 p.m. to a 911 call for a dispute in the 900 block of Wilhem Street.

Police said a man told officers his father had assaulted him with a knife. Officers saw cuts on the victim’s arm and chest but he refused treatment after being checked by medics.

A SWAT team was called out of an abundance of caution when the suspect barricaded himself inside of the home shortly after officers arrived.

Negotiators spoke for more than an hour with the suspect, who surrendered without incident and was taken into custody.

Police didn’t identify the suspect or the victim.
