Veteran Jordan Omler is running for office in a district where the odds are stacked against him. He knows it — and he’s doing it anyway, because he believes the people here deserve a voice that puts them first.

I served in Vietnam. That experience taught me how to recognize courage — and when it’s time to speak up.

That’s why I’m writing about this young veteran I’ve come to know and respect.

Omler served in Afghanistan. When he came home, he didn’t stop serving; he volunteered again, standing with people in Ukraine against Russian aggression.

What truly sets him apart isn’t just what he’s done in war — it’s what he wants to do here at home.

He’s fighting for lower taxes for low- and fixed-income citizens.

He supports the small businesses that keep towns like ours alive.

He’s committed to protecting clean air and water.

He’s running in a heavily MAGA district.

But the fights worth having are rarely the easy ones.

I hope you’ll take a moment to look past party lines and consider the kind of person Omler is. Character counts.

And this young man has it.
