Woman reported injured after crash into Mt. Pleasant house

A woman was injured Thursday when her sport utility vehicle struck a house in Mt. Pleasant.

The owners of the home at 201 S. Diamond St. — Billie and Michael DiPasquale — said that the driver was traveling north when the vehicle hit a car in front of Diamond Self-Storage Units and a pickup truck before going off the road and onto the storage unit facility’s driveway. The driver’s white Subaru Outback plowed through a plastic fence and went airborne before hitting the side of the DiPasquale house.

The crash occurred just after 4 p.m., dispatchers said. Borough patrolman Tim Ferree indicated that the victim, who was not identified, may have suffered an undisclosed medical emergency.

The DiPasquales said “the whole house shook.”

“She hit our house and then the (car) dropped down,” Michael DiPasquale said.

He said there was some interior damage where the front end of the car hit and bricks were smashed on the outside. Shrubbery also was damaged.

The identity of the driver was not released, but she was taken by ambulance to Excela Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, where she was airlifted to an undisclosed Pittsburgh hospital, Ferree said.
